Get to Know Teachers

One of the best things you can do to help your child with their homework is to know their teachers. Every teacher is a little different, and understanding what they’re looking for in terms of homework can go a long way toward setting your child up for success.

Schedule Group Study Sessions

Two heads are better than one — and more heads than that is even better! In other words, consider setting up group sessions where your child, other children in their class, and a group of parents can get together and focus on homework. There is power in numbers, and this is a surefire way to ensure your child gets the help they need.

Limit Distractions

Although group study can be a great thing, it can also create distractions from time to time. That’s why it’s so important to set aside time where your child can focus on homework in a distraction-free zone. Be sure to make yourself available to answer questions, but keep noise to a minimum while they are working.

Stay Positive

As with all things in life, it’s just so much easier when someone is encouraging and positive. Be a force for positivity in your child’s life and work hard to motivate them to improve. There’s nothing wrong with rewarding great work, and the best way to do this is with positive reinforcement and encouragement.
